Ingredients
moong dal – 1 cup
turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
cumin seeds, crushed – 1 teaspoon
garlic clove, crushed – 1 (optional)
desiccated coconut – 1/2 cup
(optional) curry leaves – a few
salt to taste
Method
Dry roast the moong dal on medium heat for ten minutes. Cook it with sufficient water and turmeric.
Grind the coconut with a little water and cumin seeds.
Add to the boiling dal along with the curry leaves and salt.

HI! Just want to know that do we soak the mung dal first? How about pressure cooking time?
No, we do not soak the mung dal. Just clean it
of any impurities and then dry roast it on a
medium hot pan until aromatic. DO not brown.
For a cup of mung dal, add two cups of water
and pressure cook for 5 – 7 minutes. The dal
should be well mashed before adding the coconut.
the curry will be tasty if you also use small onion to grind with coconut .
